Self-Love: The Need To Appreciating One’s Self.

Depression, low self-esteem among many others has robbed many of their Self-love thereby making them live in total isolation. Many of people dwell on the failures instead of appreciating themselves at least for their little success.

What is Self-Love?

Self-love has to do with having high regards for one’s well-being and happiness. It is also the state of appreciating oneself which grows from actions that support our physical, psycho-spiritual growth. Self-love can also be seen as taking care of your needs, never sacrificing your Joy, happiness or well-being for any reason. Discovering what self-love looks like for you is an important part of your mental health.

What does Self-love mean to different Individuals?

To many, Self-love means accepting one’s self as they are at every moment. It has to do with accepting your emotions for what they are, thereby considering your physical, emotion and mental well-being as key. For many, Self-love can mean;

  • Being confident in yourself.
  • Forgiving yourself when you aren’t being true to yourself.
  • Self-love can mean, giving yourself break from self-judgement.
  • Talking about yourself and achievements with so much love.
  • Being good and true to yourself.
  • Listen to your body.
  • Eating health.
  • Maintaining for psyche and physic.
  • Treating yourself with kindness and respect.
  • Appreciating yourself on every achieved goal no matter how little.
  • Take yourself outing.
  • Nourish yourself.
  • Make yourself happy.
  • Shower yourself with good gifts

Is Self-love Really Important?

Self-love is the most important thing you can learn in life. In my opinion, you have to learn to be comfortable with yourself and to be truly happy in everything you do.  Lacking self-love will cause you all sorts of problems in life.

Self-Love: The Need To Appreciating One’s Self

These things write, I have learnt from my personal experiences. It took me twenty-eight (28) years to finally love myself and at times, I still struggle appreciating myself.  On those times, I use my affirmations of self-love and other self-love tools to get rid of the negativity.

There could be physical or emotional reasons to why you don’t really love yourself.  For me, it was mostly physical things that led me to self-hate. So, now we know that self-love motivates you to make healthy choices in life. When you hold yourself in high esteem, you’re more likely to choose things that nurture your well-being and serve you well.

Do you want to practice self-love, then always do these things which includes;

  • Becoming mindful.

    People who have more self-love tend to know what they think, feel, and want. Being able to control your environment is very necessary.

  • Taking actions based on need rather than want.

    By staying focused on what you need, you turn away from automatic behavior patterns that get you into trouble, keep you stuck in the past, and lessen self-love.

  • Practicing good self-care.

    You will love yourself more when you take better care of your basic needs. People high in self-love nourish themselves daily through healthy activities, like sound nutrition, exercise, proper sleep, intimacy and healthy social interactions.

  • Making room for healthy habits.

    Start truly caring for yourself by mirroring that in what you eat, how you exercise, and what you spend time doing. Do stuff, not to “get it done” or because you “have to,” but because you care about you.

Finally, to practice self-love, start by being kind of yourself and those around you, be patient, gentle and compassionate to yourself the way you would with someone else that you care about.
