The excitement of writing and publishing a book can’t be overemphasized among authors especially newbie authors but if it ends with just few sales then the purpose of publishing the book turns out to be a charity adventure.

One of the mistakes I see many authors make today is this, they don’t take their authorship journey as a business rather it is looking like a charity adventure.

Aside from the fact that you launched the book for impacting lives, you also published that book to make money from it except it is a free book. And even if it is free, you are still entitled to turn it into a business which profits you monthly but that won’t be my focus for today.

The word best selling author is not a status or title earned by verbal expressions or amazon validation, it is one which depicts the fact that you generate sales consistently from your book as an author. If this doesn’t happen then you are not a best selling author.

There are things which makes an author earn the status of a best selling author by mouth but not a constant reality in his or her bank account. These are things you must avoid or else you will fall into the same trap.

NUMBER ONE

Launching A Book Without An Audience

This is one thing I see many authors especially newbie authors keep doing that makes them struggle to sell their book. Yes you may sell it during the launch but after the launch, can you be bold enough to say sales won’t stop?

The reason why sales will stop is because you launched your book with fans not an audience. Fans are people who congratulate you but your audience are those who have being with your brand even before you started writing a book.

It is from your audience you can consistently get buyers to get your book. These are people who always get value from your content daily and always anticipate any book you release.

Without an audience, forget about generating sales consistently from your book as an author.

These are three major things that can help you build an audience that will always pay you. This is why I always work my clients through these stages of building an audience before they launch their book.

Remember, without an audience, you will struggle to make sales online from your book.

NUMBER TWO

Lack Of Investing In Paid Ads

Recently I spoke to a client who is working on her second book to be released soon on her need to get a course on Facebook ads.

She gladly accepted because I told her that my goal is to see that the second book generates massive sales through Facebook ads and other marketing strategies.

The truth is this, it takes a lot of trusted people who have followed your brand organically to make consistent sales from your book. This will happen when you are an influencer.

As you build your audience organically, get money and invest in either learning Facebook ads or pay an expert to help you run it for you.

I know a friend who makes daily income just from running Facebook ads for his ebook. That is not always possible with organic traffic.

In my findings, I discovered that your audience can become familiar with your book sales copy and it becomes boring to them because they are the only ones seeing the advert.

Don’t you see why getting new eyes to see your book using Facebook ads is very important? It is an investment you should take into consideration as you approach 2021.

I will leave you with this, your book can become a monthly income generator only if you deliberately invest in making your book your business.
